With the rise in digital photography, it’s easier than ever to accumulate hundreds… if not thousands of digital photographs!
Some people still don’t know how (or haven’t take the time) to get the images off the digital memory card and onto the computer.
Others simply use a card reader to dump all of their digital images onto their computer’s hard drive — without having any means of organization in place. Which means… when you’re trying to retrieve a particular photo, it’s nearly impossible to know just where to look.
Thankfully, more and more people are beginning to use software programs for organizing their photos. I use Adobe Photoshop Album (…and love it!).
Whether you use an official program to organize your photos or not, here are some tips for keeping tabs on all of your digital photos.
Quick Tips For Digital Photographers
1. Get in the habit of immediately deleting any pictures you’ll obviously never use — so they don’t take up extra space on your computer’s hard drive.
2. Don’t just dump all your pictures onto your Desktop. If you use a separate program to organize your photos, then follow their instructions. Or, if you just save all your photos in random folders on your hard drive, then at the very least take the time to store them in the same place (e.g. My Pictures, or create your own folder and use sub-folders under that — by date or “type” of picture, etc). You’ll thank yourself later.
3. Remember to backup your digital images frequently. You would hate to lose all those memories if your hard drive should crash or something!
